Chrysler Canada January Sales Provide Strong Start to New Year

    - Sales growth streak hits 18 months
    - January sales up 3 per cent versus last year for a solid 16.1 per cent
       market share
    - Fuel-efficient compact and mid-size vehicles bring in more customers
    - Jeep(R) brand continues to grow
    - Retail sales continue up, daily rental sales continue down

WINDSOR, ON, Feb. 1 /CNW/ - A January sales increase of 3 per cent shows
that Chrysler Canada is in a strong position as 2008 begins. Sales increased
for the 18th month in a row due to the ongoing sales strength of Chrysler's
most fuel-efficient vehicles. With a solid 16.1 per cent market share,
Chrysler Canada easily retained its position as the second-highest selling
vehicle manufacturer in Canada.
Chrysler Canada sold 16,952 vehicles in January, including 4,905 cars and
12,047 trucks. Compared to January 2007 when 16,520 units were sold, sales for
the month are up 3 per cent. Sales success continues to be supported by
aggressive Canadian pricing and an expanded product lineup that, starting this
month, includes five products priced under $20,000: Dodge Caliber, Jeep
Compass, Jeep Patriot, Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Journey.
"The continued strong sales are a response to our pricing action and
focus on fuel-efficient products," said Dave Buckingham, Vice President of
Sales. "Our January sales increase indicates Chrysler Canada is well
positioned for continued success in 2008."

    Sales Highlights

The mid-size Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger, which both qualify for
government fuel efficiency rebates, are resonating in the Canadian market
place. Together their sales of 2,354 units is an increase of 37 per cent from
1,720 in the same month last year. Chrysler's fuel-efficient compact vehicle
trio, Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot, situated in the heart of
the Canadian market, continue their steady beat with sales of 2,762 units, up
13 per cent from 2,445. Meanwhile, sales of the all-new for 2008 Dodge Grand
Caravan were 3,185, an increase of 36.5 per cent.
Also of note, Jeep brand, which sold in record amounts in 2007, continues
to grow, led by new models and the Grand Cherokee diesel. Sales of 3,587 set a
new January record by climbing 21.2 per cent from 2,960 units sold in the same
month last year.
