CHOP steak, fish & bar named one of Canada's Top Ten new restaurants for 2007

    CALGARY, Dec. 27 /CNW/ - CHOP steak, fish & bar has been chosen as one of
Canada's Top Ten New Restaurants for 2007 by the editors of Where magazine. A
coveted and highly sought-after title, the Top Ten are selected each year from
hundreds of new establishments across Canada, with only the best newcomers
making the grade.
    Since opening its doors to customers in Edmonton in December 2006, Chop
has helped redefine standards in the fine casual dining arena. This focus on
the finer elements of casual dining did not go unnoticed by award judges who
cited exceptional food, a notable wine list, quality spirits and excellent
service, combined with the energy level and value of casual dining.
    "Chop's inclusion in this list is testament to our commitment to
innovation, creativity and the highest standards," said Marcel Blais,
Vice President of Chop. "Visitors to the restaurant can experience it in our
fresh artesian bread prepared daily by our baker. Guests can taste it in our
steaks, which are hand cut on-site from C.A.B. Alberta Beef. And they can feel

    Diners in the rest of Canada will soon be able to enjoy the Chop
experience with the opening of five additional restaurants planned over the
next two years. 2008 will see two new locations open their doors in Vancouver
and Winnipeg.
    Established by Where magazine in 2003, Canada's Top Ten New Restaurants
is an annual award program devoted to celebrating and raising awareness of
Canada's top chefs and innovative restaurateurs. The Top Ten new restaurants
include one new establishment chosen in each of the following Where magazine
regions: Calgary, Canadian Rockies, Edmonton, Halifax, Muskoka/Parry Sound,
Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Victoria and Winnipeg.

    Chop is a new concept that was founded in 2006. Chop operates fine casual
restaurants and is open for dinner, lunch and late night dining. Chop is
designed to be an upscale alternative to the Keg and an energetic and
affordable alternative to fine dining.
