Chocolate, New Shoes or TV? The Decision Just Got Way Too Easy

    Alliance Atlantis launches Slice(TM)

Special Guest Kelly Osbourne helps introduce launch schedule

    TORONTO, March 5 /CNW/ - At a press conference today at Toronto's
historic Gladstone Hotel, Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. officially
unveiled the juicy line up of original and marquee programming behind their
newly-branded channel Slice(TM). With highly addictive entertainment,
Slice(TM) launched today in place of Life Network on the Canadian TV dial and
is primed to become women's newest vice.
With an original blend of the hottest competition formats and docu-soaps,
Slice(TM) offers viewers the very best in lifestyle television. The launch
schedule consists of over 15 brand-new series, growing to over 25 by fall
2007, that bring attitude to topics that matter to women, including family,
fashion, relationships, celebrity, finances and gossip.
"To say that we are elated at the launch of Slice(TM) doesn't even begin
to scratch the surface. We've ensured that all programming found on the
network meets one very important criterion - does it satisfy a "guilty
pleasure"? If it's the type of show that will have viewers laughing, gasping,
loving the characters, hating the characters, yelling at the screen - then it
has a spot on Slice(TM)," says Vanessa Case, Vice President, Content, Alliance
Atlantis Communications Inc. "With everything from train wrecks and catfights
to underdogs coming out on top and people stumbling and succeeding in
relationships - Slice(TM) is home to the kind of unapologetically entertaining
programming that generates water-cooler conversations with each episode. We
have no doubt our viewers will be completely riveted."
A staple of Slice's(TM) debut schedule is the North American premiere of
the brand-new season of Project Catwalk - the U.K. version of the
hugely-popular Project Runway series - airing Mondays at 10pm ET/PT. On hand
for today's announcement was host of the series, feisty fashionista Kelly
Osbourne. Ms. Obsourne spoke to her experience of front-lining the series that
aims to uncover the next big name in British fashion.
"Project Catwalk is exactly the type of program that fits Slice's(TM)
mandate and a perfect example of the kind of addictive entertainment Canadian
viewers can expect to find on the network. As host, Kelly has attitude and an
all-round sense of fabulousness. Having her here to help introduce Project
Catwalk just makes our launch that much more exciting," adds Ms. Case.
As exclusive broadcaster of the U.S. and U.K versions of the series,
Slice(TM) is home to the Project Runway format for Canadian viewers. In
addition to Project Catwalk, Slice(TM) will debut Project Runway Canada in
fall 2007 and the upcoming fourth season of Project Runway U.S.
With high stakes and larger than life characters, the compelling line-up
of Slice's (TM) launch schedule also includes The Real Housewives of Orange
County, premiering Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT beginning March 8 and Beauty and
the Geek, airing Tuesdays at 9pm ET/PT beginning March 6.
Offering plenty of dramatic moments, 13 of the brand-new shows launching
with the debut schedule are original content, created specifically for
Slice(TM). Outlaw In-Laws, which finds host syndicated advice columnist Ellie
Tesher tackling the most difficult cases of in-law troubles, airs Fridays at
8:30pm ET/PT beginning March 9; UpRooted, airing Tuesdays at 10pm ET/PT
beginning March 6, follows charming celebrity hairstylist Rykr as he travels
across North America in search of some fresh inspiration and The Last 10
Pounds Bootcamp, where drill sergeant Tommy Europe helps participants with the
next to impossible task of shedding their last 10 pounds of "excess baggage"
once and for all, debuts Tuesdays at 8pm ET/PT beginning March 6.
