BERLIN, Germany, Aug. 30 /CNW/ - The Chisso Corporation, a leading
Japanese chemicals corporation, is opening its new European representative
office in the Adlershof technology and science park on September 1st. The park
sits in southeastern Berlin, and is quickly becoming a popular location for
high tech companies expanding in Europe. Chisso is the first Japanese investor
to open in Adlershof.
The company chose Adlershof after an exhaustive search that considered
sites in the Netherlands, France, and Belgium.
Chisso will be focusing its work at its Adlershof center on new materials
in the information and electronics industries and on high-precision
technologies. The proximity to the more than 400 companies within the
technology park was a deciding factor in Chisso's choosing Adlershof.
Invest in Germany (under its former name, Industrial Investment Council)
served as one of the advisors that guided Chisso on its site-selection process
and helped it reach its final decision for Adlershof. Other key players were
Wista Management, the management agency for the Adlershof Science and
Technology Park, and Berlin Partner, the investment promotion agency for the
city of Berlin.
Nikolai Dobrott, Director at Invest in Germany, and advisor to Chisso on
its site selection process, sees the presence of Chisso as strengthening the
reputation of Adlershof and the Berlin area as an investment location,
"Chisso's investment is significant for two reasons: First, it is a world
leader in chemical products manufacturing and its decision to invest in
Adlershof adds further credibility to the site. Second, it is the first
Japanese company to invest in Adlershof. Japan is a country with a proud
tradition of chemical production and the presence of a Japanese investor
proves that Adlershof is a leading investment location."
Invest in Germany is the inward investment promotion agency of the
Federal Republic of Germany. Its mandate is to promote Germany as an
attractive business location. Invest in Germany provides investors with
comprehensive support from site selection to the implementation of investment
