Cheryl Gray Announced as BOMA Canada's 2007 Chairman's Award Recipient



    OTTAWA, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - Ken Loeppky, Chairman of the Building
Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Canada, is pleased to announce the
2007 recipient of the BOMA Canada Chairman's Award. Cheryl Gray is being
honoured in recognition of her service to the national association, as well as
her generous and timely contributions of energy and expertise towards key
issues affecting not just BOMA members but all industry stakeholders. Her
longstanding dedication to BOMA and her ongoing efforts to effect positive
change in our dynamic business make her a most deserving recipient of this
award.
    "Cheryl Gray has been an extremely committed leader at all levels of the
BOMA organization, says Ken Loeppky, Chairman of BOMA Canada. "She continually
makes important contributions as a strategic thinker and as a respected expert
who works tirelessly to foster improvements in our industry. She serves as a
dynamic industry spokesperson for BOMA, both locally in Toronto and at the
national and international levels. Her valued support of the BOMA Go Green
initiative as well as her visionary leadership as Chair of the National
Industry Task Force on Pandemic Planning have resulted in significant gains
for our organization and its members, as well as for the commercial real
estate industry as a whole," he adds.
    Ms. Gray identified the need for a standardized pandemic preparedness
program for the commercial real estate industry, and was the catalyst for a
unique collaboration of senior industry leaders, to establish the national
pandemic task force. She recognized that BOMA Canada was the platform to
deliver the appropriate response tools, and provided invaluable leadership on
this important pandemic project for the benefit of both BOMA members and the
industry as a whole.
    BOMA Canada is an organization made stronger through the collective
efforts of its members. Whether at the local, national or international level,
volunteers lend valued expertise and insight, crucial to helping the
organization accomplish its goals. Accordingly, the Chairman's Award
recognizes an outstanding contribution by an individual to BOMA Canada. Thanks
to her exceptional leadership, and continued dedication, BOMA Canada is
delighted to acknowledge Ms. Gray's contributions in serving our association
and our members.
    Cheryl Gray, CPM, is Senior Vice President - National Real Estate
Services, Bentall Capital. Ms Gray joined Bentall in 2000 to lead the property
management services team in Eastern Canada. As a member of the senior
management team, today she directs Bentall's National Real Estate Services
(NRES) department which provides strategic support to the corporation's real
estate services in Canada and the United States. NRES is responsible for
corporate and operational risk management; environmental programs and
policies; property management best practices; and national contracting.
    Ms. Gray has over 27 years of real estate management experience having
worked with major Canadian real estate firms; TrizecHahn, Enterprise Property
Group and Manulife Real Estate in office, industrial, retail and residential
property portfolios. She holds a Certified Property Manager designation; is a
current member of the BOMA Canada's National Advisory Council; a past National
Board member of the Real Estate Institute of Canada; past chair of the
Institute of Real Estate Management Canada Council, and, is currently a 3rd
year level student with the University of Waterloo working towards a Bachelor
of Arts, majoring in Economics.
    "Not only does she have a truly collaborative spirit, Ms. Gray also
possesses the key ability to lead by example, and is actively involved in
significant national issues affecting our entire industry. She has lent her
insight and expertise to a variety of initiatives, each of which has had a
lasting, positive impact on BOMA Canada and its members," notes Mr. Loeppky.
"She both challenges and supports BOMA to become better at what it does,
helping shape the association into a stronger and more effective national
body. Her ability to engage other industry leaders in developing new policies
and practices that benefit everyone, from tenants through to building owners,
has been a hallmark of her many contributions to our organization. I am very
pleased to recognize Ms. Gray as the recipient of the 2007 Chairman's Award."
    The BOMA Canada Chairman's Award will be formally presented to Ms. Gray
at the BOMA Canada National Awards Gala in Toronto, on September 19, 2007, in
conjunction with BOMEX(R) 2007, BOMA Canada's national conference and
exposition.
