TORONTO, Aug. 27 /CNW/ - CNW Group and The Equicom Group are delighted to
announce a donation of more than $30,000 to Kids Help Phone, an organization
committed to providing support to young people in rural and urban communities
across Canada. The donation represents the amount of money raised from
corporate sponsors, donors, and players who took part in the Third Annual CNW
Group-Equicom Group Charity Golf Classic Tournament on August 22, 2007 at Glen
Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario.
"The amount of money raised at this tournament will go a long way towards
supporting Kids Help Phone in our work to provide confidential and anonymous
counseling and support to young people," said Kelly Hagerman, Project
Specialist, Corporate Partner Events, Kids Help Phone. "Last year alone we
helped kids in almost 3,000 Canadian communities more than 1.5 million times,
and we'll be able to put this money to good use in helping us be there for
kids even more this year and in the future."
"I'm grateful for the amount of support we received from everyone who
helped us with this tournament, from sponsors to volunteers, and even the
golfers themselves. This proves what can be achieved when good people work
together. You don't need to be a large company to make a big difference for a
worthy cause," said Tom Enright, President and CEO of CNW Group.
"We are pleased that we have had another successful year in raising funds
in support of Kids Help Phone," added Barry Hildred, President of Equicom. "I
would like to thank everyone who helped us out with this, and look forward to
another successful event next year."
The CNW Group-Equicom Group Charity Golf Classic has raised nearly
$100,000 for national charities in the past three years. The proceeds from
last year's tournament were donated to the Children's Aid Foundation.
