MONTREAL, Aug. 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Carole Beaulieu, editor in chief of
L'actualité, is pleased to announce that Chantal Hébert is joining the
magazine's team of regular contributors. "Chantal is a free thinker with an
incisive outlook, says Beaulieu. "We're all thrilled with her decision to join
the L'actualité family."
Starting Tuesday, September 2, Ms. Hébert will be hosting a blog at
lactualite.com. "After print, radio and television, the only thing left was to
try my hand at blogging," says Hebert. "The blogosphere for Canadian politics
is growing rapidly. I'm pleased that during the next election campaign, I'll
be able to contribute to enriching what is being done in French in this area."
In the coming months, readers of L'actualité will also be able to enjoy Ms.
Hébert's column in the magazine.
Since 1999, she is a political columnist with the Toronto Star and guest
columnist with Le Devoir. Chantal Hébert has worked as a journalist since
1975, holding a number of positions with Radio-Canada /CBC regional television
and national radio. She has also worked in Toronto and on Parliament Hill, for
Le Devoir and La Presse.
"Chantal Hébert is one of Canada's best political analysts," said Réal
Germain, publisher, L'actualité. "Her contribution will give our readers the
insightful perspective they are looking for-particularly about issues in
Ms. Hébert is a graduate of York University's Glendon College and a
senior fellow with Massey College at the University of Toronto. She is a
two-time recipient of the Asia-Pacific Foundation (Malaysia and Japan). In
2005, she received a public service mention from APEX. In 2006, she was
honoured with the Hyman Solomon Award for Excellence in Public Policy
Journalism as well as the Pinnacle Achievement Bryden Award from York
University. She is the author of French Kiss: Stephen Harper and Quebec,
published simultaneously in both languages in 2007.
