OTTAWA, Aug. 9 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Gas Association (CGA) commends
Canada's premiers for recognizing the contribution that Canada's energy sector
has on the country's economic growth and prosperity as well as the high
priority it has put on conservation and energy efficiency.
A Shared Vision for Energy in Canada was released earlier today at the
annual premiers' conference in New Brunswick and CGA agrees that charting a
sustainable energy future should be a fundamental priority and supports the
vision outlined by the premiers.
"The action plan recognizes a number of issues notably improving
regulatory efficiency, investing in transportation and delivery
infrastructure, and the importance of conservation, energy efficiency and
investing in energy end-use and delivery technologies," said Shahrzad Rahbar,
Vice President, Strategy and Operations at the Canadian Gas Association. "If
Canada is serious about meeting ambitious environmental objectives, thoughtful
policy and concrete action relating to energy demand and delivery is an
CGA has long argued for policy frameworks that focus on energy supply,
delivery and demand.
"We look forward to working with the provinces to implement these plans,"
said Rahbar. "As acknowledged in the plan, natural gas utilities have a key
role to play in helping Canadian consumers use energy more efficiently."
The Canadian Gas Association (CGA) is the voice of Canada's natural gas
delivery industry. CGA members are gas distribution companies, transmission
companies, related equipment manufacturers, and other service providers
involved in the delivery of natural gas in Canada.
