Funds to be used for key education and research initiatives
TORONTO, Sept. 24 /CNW/ - The Certified Management Accountants of Ontario
(CMA Ontario) is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Odette School
of Business, University of Windsor. The strengthened relationship will lead to
education and research initiatives that will develop the teaching of
management accounting at the business faculty.
Today CMA Ontario will present the first of three annual $20,000 cheques
to Allan Conway, Dean of Odette School of Business. In addition to supporting
the partnership between the organizations, and promotion of the CMA program
among students, CMA Ontario will support a competitive research award for
Odette faculty, the development of a series of cases based on the interaction
between strategic, organizational and financial issues, and an internal
student case competition.
A special funding presentation including faculty, administration, CMA
community members and students will take place at 11:30am in the Odette School
of Business, Room 210 and will follow with a light luncheon in the Odette
atrium on the 3rd floor.
"Close working relationships with professional organizations like CMA
Ontario are important in the structuring of Odette students' experience, in as
well as outside the classroom. This sponsorship will support activities that
will further enhance the student experience through focused faculty research
and case-writing, externally judged student case competitions, and symposia
bringing together academics and practitioners. CMA members from the region
have been involved in a number of Odette events over the past years and we
appreciate their bringing their experience and point of view to what we do,"
explained Dr. Allan Conway, Dean of the Odette School of Business.
"It has been a pleasure working with the students, faculty and
administration at the Odette School of Business over the past number of years.
CMA Ontario has witnessed increasing numbers of CMA Exam writers and pass
rates coming from Odette each year. In continuing to build a strong working
relationship with Odette, our ultimate goal is to have Odette students succeed
as business leaders in industry through expertise gained in the CMA
designation areas of management, strategy and accounting," said Deborah
Clarke, Southwestern Ontario Regional Director, CMA Ontario.
