MONTREAL, Sept. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - The organization of the Soirée to be
held September 18th in the historic courtyard of the Fort on Ile Sainte-Hélène
is now well under way. This special event, held under the patronage of
Mr. Gérald Tremblay, Mayor of Montréal, celebrates the founding of New France
in America. The evening will assemble numerous notable guests -- from the
world of business to the world of politics -- including senator Serge Joyal,
wil act as Master of Ceremonies.
Invited guests wil participate in a lively, festive ambiance, in many
ways evocative of a bygone era. Period music by l'Ensemble Claude-Gervaise
will enhance the cocktail hour. Following fine Nouvele France dining, a
performance by the group Danse-Cadence will top off the evening, with guests
invited to join in the dance.
At the heart of this event, it is important to note that the essential
mission of the Stewart Museum, includes the dissemination of historical
knowledge to the public at large, and to youth in particular. The museum's
significant holdings comprise unique and fascinating artifacts such as rare
maps, antique arms, scientific instruments and navigational tools, domestic
utensils and historical documents.
Proceeds from the event wil help further develop the Museum's educational
mission and broaden its program benefiting students of the Greater Montréal
