CBC Records / Les disques SRC presents Live Jazz Legends

MONTREAL, Nov. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - Espace musique and CBC Records / Les
disques SRC are pleased to offer jazz lovers the album Live Jazz Legends. This
recording is the product of a rare musical meeting: two concerts in Montreal
and Vancouver that brought together five of Canada's great jazz musicians on
one stage; Oliver Jones on piano, P.J. Perry on alto sax, Michel Donato on
bass, Ian MacDougall on trombone and Terry Clarke on drums.
The fab five were joined by a new generation of talented artists -
up-and-coming saxophonists Tara Davidson and Evan Arntzen, trumpeter David
Charbonneau, and bassist Karine Chapdelaine - for performances that will
remain forever engraved in their hearts and minds. These live recordings
capture the vibrant atmosphere onstage, infused with electrifying energy that
touches you to the core. The repertoire features a mix of originals and jazz
classics. Highlights include "Zimbabwe" and "Bleu sur le vif," which showcase
the creative composing and brilliant musicianship of Ian MacDougall and Michel
Donato. The group also provides a whole new take on the standards, with
unique, captivating renditions of Paul Simon's "Still Crazy After All These
Years" and Gershwin's medley "When You Wish Upon a Star / Someone to Watch
Over Me."
The Live Jazz Legends album is now on sale in CBC shops, online at
www.cbcshop.ca, and in record stores everywhere.
