Casino de Mont-Tremblant opening to hallmark the start of the summer tourist season

    MONT-TREMBLANT, QC, April 15 /CNW Telbec/ - The Casino de Mont-Tremblant
opens its doors to the public on June 24, marking the start of the summer
tourist season. During a building site tour for the media, General Manager
Daniel Bissonnette confirmed that construction work would be completed on time
and on budget: "Work is proceeding as planned and we are certain that
everything will be in place to welcome our first visitors in ten weeks."
According to Mr. Bissonnette, the Casino de Mont-Tremblant will
definitely contribute to a diversification of the entertainment offering in
the region, thus reinforcing its position as an international tourist magnet:
"It is vital for us to get involved and develop closely collaborative
relationships with our regional partners," he added. In fact, the Casino de
Mont-Tremblant and its partners - Tourism Mont-Tremblant, Tourisme
Laurentides, Mont Tremblant Ski Resort, Mont-Tremblant Chamber of Commerce and
Tourisme Aérien Laurentides - have the development of the regional tourist
industry as their common goal.
Mr. Bissonnette went on to describe the Casino's target customer base as
being composed for the most part of a resort, convention and vacation
clientele. The Casino's gaming offerings will be in that sense adapted to the
needs of this particular clientele, with a complete and distinctive range of
games including some 400 slot machines and 25 croupier-operated gaming tables
of which 5 are reserved for Texas Hold'em poker. A large area will be set
aside for High Rollers. Two private salons will be available, and basic
restaurant service as well. It is worth noting that when concluded, this
project will create nearly 225 job positions.
In creating the Casino de Mont-Tremblant, Loto-Québec has paid particular
attention to maintaining the quality and natural beauty of the site itself, in
addition to a high level of customer service and security, stated Mr.
Bissonnette. Moreover, the Corporation has sought LEED accreditation
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) from the Canadian Green
Building Council. This accreditation is awarded using a point system based on
technical, structural, consumption and operational criteria. Seeking
accreditation displays the Corporation's commitment to sustainable development
and the importance it accords this value in its business practices. Here are
some of the design, construction and operational characteristics of the
Versant Soleil casino building that support our certification efforts:

    - Recovery, recycling and re-use of dry materials (concrete, steel, wood,
      etc.) on the construction site
    - Use of exterior Albedo (light colour) ground cover to reflect light and
      reduce heat islands
    - Exterior lighting designed to minimize night-time light pollution
    - Low water consumption landscaping
    - Rainwater recovery for use in the irrigation system
    - Utilisation of low-emission volatile organic compounds (paints,
coatings, carpets, composite woods and adhesives for laminates)

Nestled in a grandiose setting, the Casino de Mont-Tremblant will make
use of natural materials that recall its environment: water, stone, wood,
leather and suede in warm, intense colours. A selection of artwork from the
Collection Loto-Québec including many works by artists from the Laurentian
region itself will be on permanent display. Everything has been put into place
to make this Casino into an entertainment Mecca.
In the area of responsible gaming, Mr. Bissonnette made it clear that the
same prevention and awareness measures that are in place in Québec's other
casinos will be applied in Versant Soleil: the self-exclusion program, 8/8
self-evaluation consoles and an intervention service for players in distress.
Finally, as the Casino's General Manager concluded, Loto-Québec will
continue to work in concert with regional and local leaders to ensure that
spinoffs from the project will be beneficial to the community. "I invite
everyone to come up on June 24 and visit our casino, the newest jewel in the
heart of the mountains!"
