LIVE - From Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, it's SnowBall 2011: There's Snow Place Like Home!

TORONTO, Jan. 7 /CNW/ - SnowBall 2011 Co-Chairs Suzanne Boyd and Alex Filiatrault today announced that SNL alumnus and Broadway star of Wicked Ana Gasteyer will be the headline performer at SnowBall 2011: There's Snow Place Like Home!, a very special fundraising gala for Casey House taking place on Saturday, February 26th at Four Seasons Hotel Toronto.

The Four Seasons will be transformed into the "Land of AH's" for Casey House's annual must-attend event of the season, marking the Toronto debut of Ms. Gasteyer's acclaimed one-woman musical evening "Let it Rip!" The night will also feature gourmet dining, lavish Hollywood-inspired live and silent auctions, and the presentation of The Casey Awards, celebrating the pioneering vision and social justice activism of Casey House founder June Callwood.

Created in memory of June Callwood, a founder of Casey House, The Casey Awards annually recognize up to five individuals or organizations whose pioneering leadership and activism in the fields of HIV/AIDS and social justice carry on Callwood's passionate life's work. "This year's recipients, like June Callwood, have for decades pioneered new advancements in the health and well-being of people who are marginalized by HIV/AIDS," said The Casey Awards Chair Jim Belshaw. "We're so very pleased to have this opportunity to recognize their compassionate and very innovative work."

2011 Recipients, The Casey Awards:
Jay MacGillivray - For 30 years, an outstanding advocate for people and communities who are marginalized because of HIV/AIDS, disability, poverty, immigration status, orientation or other systemic barriers to access. One of Ontario's first registered midwives, MacGillivray co-founded The Positive Pregnancy Programme, providing comprehensive pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care to HIV-positive mothers and their babies.
Fife House Foundation - Driven by the fundamental need for safe housing as a requirement for health and well-being, for over 20 years Fife House has provided innovative and client-centred supportive housing programs, transitional housing, homeless outreach and community programs for thousands of people affected by HIV/AIDS in Toronto.

Perhaps best known for her six seasons on NBC's Saturday Night Live, Ms. Gasteyer has also starred on Broadway in The Royal Family, The Threepenny Opera and The Rocky Horror Show, and as Elpheba in Wicked. Off-Broadway and regional credits include Kimberly Akimbo, Roulette, The Vagina Monologues, Cinderella, Funny Girl and The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci. Ms. Gasteyer's film appearances include Reefer Madness, Mean Girls, What Women Want, Dick and What's the Worst That Could Happen? She is also known for numerous television appearances on such hit shows as The Good Wife, Chuck, Saturday Night Live (6 seasons), Frasier, Just Shoot Me, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Seinfeld, and Law & Order, and will next be seen in this season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Ms. Gasteyer has performed her acclaimed one-woman musical evening "Let It Rip!" to audiences throughout the US.  

Organizers expect SnowBall 2011 to raise over $400,000. Net proceeds will support Casey House community programs, providing vital health care and support services to people living with HIV/AIDS in Toronto.
