TORONTO, April 27 /CNW/ - Canwest continues its legacy of delivering bold
Canadian television as two new series - Lawyers Guns and Money (working title)
and Shattered - are green-lit for Showcase. The 13 episode one-hour dramas
begin production this summer with a 2009/2010 airdate on the channel.
Lawyers, Guns and Money is the story of Jimmy Burns, a young claims
adjuster for a cut-throat corporation. Jimmy maneuvers his way around
insurance scams and the criminal underworld all while trying to escape his
past and make a better life for himself on the gritty streets of Hamilton.
Luke Kirby (Tell Me You Love Me, Slings and Arrows, Shattered Glass) stars in
the series, along with Emmy-nominated Clark Johnson (The Shield, The Wire, The
Sentinel) and Caroline Cave (ReGenesis, The L Word). The series was created by
Malcolm MacRury (Street Legal, Deadwood, ZOS: Zone of Separation) who is also
signed on as the series Showrunner.
Starring Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galactica, Californication, The
X-Files) and directed by Bobby Roth (Prison Break, Lost, Criminal Minds),
Shattered follows the exploits of Kyle Logan, a brilliant detective, whose
multiple-personality-disorder has a major affect on his job.
"Showcase is synonymous with addictive and clever hits and these new
originals series are a reflection of our unwavering commitment to bringing
Canadian viewers quality home-grown dramatic programming," says Christine

incredibly excited about these series and are looking forward to working with
our talented production partners to get them on the airways this fall."
Lawyers, Guns and Money is produced by Whizbang Films Inc., the
Toronto-based company created by Paul Gross and Frank Siracusa who are the
creative forces behind the Genie-Award Winning production Passchendaele.
Shattered is produced by leading independent studio E1 Entertainment and
