OTTAWA and GATINEAU, Aug. 29 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Radio-television
and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) announced today that the public
hearing to consider the application by CanWest MediaWorks Inc. (CanWest) to
acquire Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc.'s (Alliance Atlantis)
broadcasting companies has been postponed due to the late filing of additional
documents. CanWest filed, late last week, 52 documents containing more than
300 pages with marked changes.
The CRTC has determined that the extent of the new information is such
that interveners should be given a fair opportunity to comment on these
In the interest of procedural fairness, the hearing to consider CanWest's
application has been rescheduled to the first available date, November 19,
2007. A new deadline of October 10, 2007, has been set for interested parties
to submit any amendments to their interventions or comments in respect of the
additional information only. CanWest may file amendments to its reply comments
no later than October 22, 2007.
