WINNIPEG, Aug. 28 /CNW/ - CanWest Global Communications Corp. ("CanWest")
today confirmed that it had received notice from the Canadian Radio-television
and Telecommunications Commission ("CRTC") that the hearing into its
application to transfer Alliance Atlantis' regulated properties to CanWest
will be held on November 19, 2007.
The delay is a result of the later closing date (August 15) of the sale
of Alliance Atlantis' shares and the subsequent necessary filings associated
with the transaction's close.
"Obviously, we're disappointed," said Leonard Asper, President and CEO of
CanWest. "However, we understand and fully appreciate that this is a complex
transaction that both the Commission and the interested public want to have an
opportunity to review in its entirety."
