Canadians Will Eat Free At Mandarin On July 1

    - Restaurant Celebrates Canadian Citizenship This Canada Day -

TORONTO, June 24 /CNW/ - In celebration of our nation's birthday and its
30th anniversary, Mandarin is inviting Canadians to enjoy a free meal on July
1st at anyone of its 21 restaurants, all located in southern Ontario.
The festivities are a way to give back to the country responsible for the
Mandarin's great success. From Barrie to Markham to Mississauga, Mandarin
anticipates up to 30,000 guests who will wok their way through one of the
country's most popular Chinese-Canadian buffets.
"We are proud to celebrate 30 years of service in this great country,"
said James Chiu, President, Mandarin Restaurants. "What better day than Canada
Day to express our sincerest gratitude to our nation and its people. We want
to show how much we value being Canadian. That's why we're calling it 'Thank
You Canada'," he added.
Anticipating lineups from early in the morning, Mandarin will open its
doors at 12:00 p.m. for the first seating and will seat customers until 8:30
p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Accompanying the free buffet are
soft drinks, tea and coffee and individuals must show proof of citizenship
either through a passport, birth certificate or citizenship card to receive a
free meal.
"Our employees are the backbone of the company and the reason for our
success," said James Chiu. "Celebrating Canada Day is important for the entire
organization as the majority of our management and staff are immigrants. We
have all benefitted from becoming Canadian citizens," he added.
Behind the scenes ensuring Thank You Canada's success is the staff at the
21 restaurants who will be preparing the food for the big day. Mandarin
anticipates it will serve more than 30,000 spring rolls, 2,000 pounds of rice,
more than 50,000 sweet and sour chicken balls and 30,000 fortune cookies on
July 1st.
