Canadians Pump Up CORNER GAS To New Audience Record With Nearly 3 Million Viewers on CTV

    TORONTO, April 14 /CNW/ - Just like it began, CORNER GAS has ended on a
high, with a record-breaking audience last night. Canada's most beloved
homegrown comedy series has made television history with an audience of 2.914
million viewers for its series finale on CTV and 'A'. It's a new audience high
for CORNER GAS and the biggest audience on record for a Canadian scripted
television series(*). In all, nearly one in three viewers in English Canada from
9:30 - 10 p.m. watched the greatly-anticipated finale, in which Brent LeRoy
passes on a potential comedy career to stay put in Dog River.(xx) The episode
was the No.1 program of the night (ahead of HOUSE and CSI: MIAMI) and ranks as
one of the most-watched television programs in Canada this broadcast year,
ranking No.8 along with sports events and THE ACADEMY AWARDS. More than 4.2
million viewers watched some part of the episode.

    In advance of the finale, the cast of CORNER GAS appeared on various
programs on CTV, significantly boosting their audiences compared to season to
date averages. A CANADA AM CORNER GAS special at 8 a.m. saw its audience
increase by 30%, while the dedicated special LIVE AT ETALK: THE CAST OF CORNER
GAS attracted a season-high 664,000 viewers at 7 p.m., a spike of 80% for
ETALK. Another 763,000 viewers watched the pre-finale special IT'S BEEN A GAS
at 7:30 p.m.

    For CORNER GAS fans not ready to say goodbye just yet - have no fear,
there is still GAS in the tank in the coming weeks and months:

    -   The Comedy Network offers a second shot at saying goodbye with an
        encore presentation of IT'S BEEN A GAS on Saturday, April 18 at
        8 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the series finale "You've Been Great, Good
        Night," at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. For those who can't bear to part with it
