Canadians clearly want to take control of their finances but often lack plans to manage through major life events

New CIBC campaign focuses on financial planning for buying a home, having children, retirement

TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2011 /CNW/ - Canadians have the best of intentions to pay off debt and save for retirement but these goals are too often derailed by a lack of planning for life's realities like buying a home or having children.

To help Canadians take better control of their financial situation CIBC is launching a new campaign to help consumers understand the importance of building a plan that positions them to achieve financial goals throughout their lives.

The new campaign uses the theme "Life Adds Up - Your Finances Should Too", to highlight how financial planning around significant life events can help Canadians achieve their goals. The objective of the campaign is to motivate Canadians to think about how a strong personal financial foundation - with the right advice - can help them achieve their hopes, dreams, and aspirations…with CIBC there to help them.

"Our new campaign focuses on the full spectrum of important life stages - going to university, buying a home, starting a family and planning for retirement," says Stephen Forbes, Executive Vice President, CIBC Marketing and Communications. "These are exciting moments for many Canadians but they can put pressure on their finances. Having a financial plan can help Canadians prepare for these important life moments. This is where our advisors, across the country, can help - by building a plan so our clients are confident they are ready."

The campaign, which builds on CIBC's "For What Matters" tag line, was unveiled in CIBC branches last week, followed by print, digital and TV spots which are in market as of this week. CIBC's new TV commercials will run during major English-language shows such as Glee, Modern Family, The Good Wife and Two and a Half Men over the coming weeks. A French-language spot will run during hit French-language shows such as Dr. House, Destinees and La Promesse, as well as on top specialty channels.

With nearly 1,100 locations across the country, CIBC has one of the largest branch networks in Canada. CIBC clients also benefit from access to nearly 4,000 automated bank machines, and 24/7 service by phone, online and through mobile banking.

CIBC is a leading North American financial institution with nearly 11 million personal banking and business clients. CIBC offers a full range of products and services through its comprehensive electronic banking network, branches and offices across Canada, and has offices in the United States and around the world.
