Canadian women's hockey gift comes early!

New professional Canadian women's league assists season gift giving with
two for one season pass offer

TORONTO, Dec. 7 /CNW/ - The Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), has
come up with the perfect holiday gift to help shoppers and at the same time
invite support for their brand new league. Until the end of December only,
hockey fans can purchase a $40 season pass on the League's website,, entitling them to attend all remaining 2007/08 season CWHL games
for only $20.
"This is an exciting opportunity for existing and new fans to view a
league of elite competitive hockey that features the highest caliber of female
hockey players in the world," said Sami Jo Small, former Olympian, CWHL player
and board member. "It is the premiere, professionally run women's hockey
league in the world and many of its players have Olympic and world
championship experience."
The Canadian Women's Hockey League officially launched in September of
this year and, through this offer, is opening its doors to residents in
communities across Ontario and Quebec to come out and support their teams and
players in its inaugural season. The League consists of seven teams, including
a Central division with four teams (Brampton, Mississauga, Vaughan and
Burlington), and an Eastern Division with three teams (one in Ottawa and two
in Montreal).
"People who follow women's hockey are familiar with the exceptional level
of hockey being played at these games," said Cassie Campbell, former Olympian
and women's hockey commentator. "This represents a great opportunity for new
fans to come out and support these players who are passionate about the sport
and play a bold and dynamic game."
"The long term success of the CWHL is going to be a milestone in Canadian
sports," said Mandy Cronin, goaltender for the Brampton Canadette-Thunder. "It
not only provides a place for elite female players to hone their skills and
build towards future World and Olympic Championships, but also builds a future
in hockey for the thousands of young female players in the girls' leagues."
