Canadian Western Bank Named One of the "50 Best Employers" for 2008

EDMONTON, Jan. 7 /CNW/ - Canadian Western Bank (CWB) is pleased to
announce its recognition as one of the "50 Best Employers in Canada" for a
second consecutive year in a national survey conducted by Hewitt Associates
and sponsored by the Globe and Mail's Report on Business magazine. The best
employers list is based on employees' responses to a confidential opinion
survey. Participating for the second time, CWB's ranking improved to 44th.
According to Hewitt Associates, for a company to make the list its
employees must both see and feel a connection between their daily
contributions and the success of their organization. Factors such as
leadership, managerial support, recognition and opportunities for learning and
development all have a significant impact on employee performance and job
"We responded to a number of topics identified by our employees in the
2007 survey, which makes our improved rank among this year's "50 Best"
particularly gratifying. We will introduce other positive changes in 2008 and
are optimistic we will see additional progress next year as we further enhance
our position as an employer of choice," said Larry Pollock, President and CEO.
"Our outstanding people drive CWB's success and we do everything we can to
offer a rewarding work experience that enables and challenges employees to
achieve their full potential," added Pollock.
