    Tour Operator Sales Hit a Record High for 2007

    TORONTO, Dec. 12 /CNW/ - Barcelo Hotels & Resorts reports that Canada is
the number one feeder market for its 32 all-inclusive hotels in Mexico and the
Caribbean.  During 2007 a record number of vacation packages were sold
throughout Canadian markets to Barcelo's selection of upscale and Premium
branded hotels.  An increase year-over-year of more than 34% was achieved in
2007.  Barcelo's hotels include 12 properties in Mexico; four in Costa Rica;
four in Cuba; nine in the Dominican Republic; one in Ecuador; one in
Nicaragua; and one in Uruguay.

helped us successfully sell our brand throughout the country," said Rick

    The Barcelo Maya Palace -- the Newest Addition for 2008

    Opening December 24th is the Barcelo Maya Palace Hotel, the fifth
ultra-luxury hotel at the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort.  The Barcelo Maya Palace
is an all-suite property that features 756 junior guest suites, as well as
honeymoon and presidential suites.  The hotel's architecture opens to the sea
with large palazzos and patios.  The new hotel includes three additional fine
dining a la carte restaurants featuring French, Caribbean and a Brazilian
style grill. In addition there are two buffet restaurants and a beach grill
and pool bar, as well as a lobby bar.
    The hotel's spacious suites include a sleeping and sitting area, as well
as a large contemporary spa style bathroom finished with natural stone and
including a walk-in shower and garden style tub, and double sinks.  All suites
have ocean or garden views, and large patios or balconies.  Additional comfort
features are a large screen TV, a desk, dual telephone lines, in-room high
speed internet access, and a refrigerated mini-bar for snacks.  The resort
decor and comfortable furnishings make it perfect for couples on a retreat,
conference attendees or families. And like its sister hotels at The Barcelo
Maya Beach Resort, the Barcelo Maya Palace will offer an all-inclusive
experience with access to all 20 restaurants and bars, a new Mayan influenced
European-style spa, a Conference Center that can accommodate groups of up to
1,680 guests, and more than one mile of pristine Caribbean beach.
    Also completing extensive renovations this December are the Barcelo La
Jolla de Mismaloya Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, and the Barcelo Punta Cana in the
