The 2009 CTLA Annual Conference brings together transport professionals,
their clients, external advisors and government representatives to share
innovative ideas and best practices. This year's conference, entitled "A
Cross-Border Conversation," will present a comparative (Canada - U.S.)
analysis of the laws and legal practice that affect the transportation of
people and goods in North America.
This year's keynote speaker is Janice Thomson, the former Chair and
current Commissioner of the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission and the Executive
Director of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce and Visitor and
Convention Bureau. Additional speakers include prominent Canadian and U.S.
transport lawyers and professional consultants, as well as representatives
from the transportation industry and government agencies.

    Key topics include:

    - The legal framework including minimizing security risks and
prosecuting offences affecting the transport industry, including
       piracy and terrorism
    - The interests and concerns of shippers, carriers and freight
       intermediaries when negotiating railway rates
    - The traps and pitfalls of cross-border litigation, with an emphasis on
       personal injury and freight claims
    - A comparative analysis of the Canadian and U.S. regulatory regimes
governing carrier safety and compliance, employment and human rights
laws in effect on either side of the border

This conference presents a great opportunity to meet and network with
leading transportation professionals from across North America in Ontario's
idyllic wine region. For more information and to register for CTLA 2009,
