Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union Local 343 - Media Release

    TORONTO, Oct. 5 /CNW/ - Thirty-six employees of the International Union
of Operating Engineers Local 793 have voted 80% in favour of strike action if
their union is unable to reach an agreement with the Operating Engineers by
October 13th.
    A strike by the members of the Canadian Office and Professional Employees
Union Local 343 would affect the offices of the Operating Engineers Union at
its head office in Oakville, its training centre in Morrisburg, Ontario and
its regional offices situated throughout the province.
    The issues in dispute are primarily related to job security.
