Canadian Institute of Planners Honours 8 recipients with Honourable mention in the awards for Planning Excellence

    OTTAWA, April 24 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP)
is pleased to announce the 8 honourable mention awards of its 2007 Awards for
Planning Excellence. Since 1983, the Institute has recognized planning
excellence through its annual awards program, which honours planning projects
judged on their excellence, innovation, contribution to the body of
professional knowledge, implementation potential, and presentation.
    The Canadian Institute of Planners received 67 superb planning documents
and projects from across Canada from which the Awards Jury chose the following
submissions for honourable mention in their respective categories:

Committee Chair Gary Willson, "The 8 projects that have been awarded
honourable mentions are certainly deserving of recognition by the Canadian
Institute of Planners".
    The winners will be formally announced during an Awards Banquet on
Tuesday, June 5, 2007, held in conjunction with the 2007 Canadian Institute of
Planners/ Ordre des urbanistes du Québec joint conference. This year's
conference will be held at the Québec Convention Centre in Québec City, Québec
from June 3 to 6, 2007 under the theme "Looking to the Future: Planning for
Major Change".
    Hundreds of planners from across Canada will attend the conference to
learn and share ideas about urban design, environmental issues, transportation
and other planning related issues. CIP is the national certification body and
professional institute for some 7,000 planners in Canada and abroad.
