Canadian Corporations Compare Practices in Influenza Pandemic Preparedness

New Schulich Report to Highlight Results of Corporate Roundtable on
    Influenza Pandemic Preparedness

TORONTO, June 19 /CNW/ - In the midst of a World Health Organization
(WHO) pandemic alert Phase 5, Canadian-based risk managers from major
corporations came together to attend the recent Schulich School of Business'
Corporate Risk Managers Roundtable on Pandemic Preparedness. Representatives
from the airline, banking, consulting, mining, real estate, restaurant,
telecommunications and utilities sectors came together to discuss and exchange
ideas on corporate pandemic planning strategies. They also shared assumptions
and highlighted common challenges facing Canadian corporations during an
influenza pandemic.
A summary of the discussion will be presented for the first time at
Monday's World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM) in Toronto. With the
continued threat of the H1N1 virus and a potential resurgence in the Northern
Hemisphere in the fall(1), Canadian corporations must do all they can to
protect their employees and business.
