CANADIAN COMMENTARY ON U.S. PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION: Will the American Christian Right Retain Its Influence Under the Obama Administration?

TORONTO, Jan. 13 /CNW/ - Please note that award-winning Canadian
broadcaster and filmmaker Ralph Benmergui is available for comment on the Jan.
20 U.S. Presidential inauguration.
Mr. Benmergui has recently completed the documentary series God Bless
America, which examines the complex role that religious faith plays in the
political life of the United States.
The six-part series investigates in depth the relationship between the
Evangelical Christian movement and the American political right, discusses the
emergence of a small but growing Evangelical progressive movement, and asks
whether the voices of religious minorities are being heard in the public

Mr. Benmergui is well positioned to comment upon questions such as:

(*) Why did President-elect Barack Obama choose prominent Evangelical
leader Rick Warren to give the invocation at the Jan. 20 inauguration
(*) Will America's Christian right lose or gain political influence
        under a Democratic administration?
(*) How will the Obama administration differ from the faith-based
        presidency of George W. Bush?

God Bless America premieres nationwide on Monday, January 19 at 10 p.m.
ET/7 p.m. PT on Canada's multi-faith and multicultural television network,
