Canadian Cancer Society President and CEO, Peter Goodhand, Welcomes Appointment as Chair of Federal Government Expert Review Panel on Isotopes

TORONTO, June 19 /CNW/ - Natural Resources Canada announced today that
Peter Goodhand, Canadian Cancer Society President and CEO, has been appointed
Chair of the Expert Review Panel on Medical Isotope Production.
"I welcome this opportunity to bring the important patient perspective to
the deliberations of this panel," says Goodhand.
The Expert Review Panel will assess options from both the private and
public sectors to secure a reliable isotope supply for Canada for the medium
and long-term. The panel will report its assessment of the proposals to the
Minister of Natural Resources Canada. A final report is expected November 30,
2009. The panel is committed to assessing the proposals in a fair and
transparent manner.
"This is a complex global issue," says Goodhand. "In order that Canada
doesn't face this type of shortage again, a long-term solution must guarantee
a constant, steady supply of medical isotopes."
