TORONTO and EDMONTON, March 6 /CNW/ - After 72 hours of feverish writing,
our authors face Judgment Day in The 3-Day Novel Contest: The Series. In a
special one-hour finale, the writers return to Chapters to face the judges one
last time and to find out which of them will be crowned Canada's next literary
superstar. The season finale airs on Sunday March 25th at 9:00pm ET /
7:00pm MT on BookTelevision, CLT, and ACCESS.
From over 150 applications from across Canada, 12 writers were
hand-picked to compete in The 3-Day Novel Contest live broadcast event. Over
the 2006 Labour Day long weekend the competitors sat down in the middle of
Edmonton's biggest Chapters bookstore - cameras and customers following their
every keystroke - to try to write a novel on live television in just three
days. They faced diabolically challenging contests and turns at "The
Thirteenth Machine" as they competed to write a book, attain literary
notoriety, and get published.
The broadcast winner will receive a week-long mentorship at a prestigious
writer's workshop, courtesy of The Writers Guild of Alberta, and publication
in WestWord, one of Alberta's premiere writing magazines.
