Canada Feature Film Fund - Téléfilm Canada announces support for 7 French-language feature films

    MONTREAL, June 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Telefilm Canada is pleased to announce
its latest investment decisions - the last for French-language productions for
fiscal 2009-10 - under the selective component of the Canada Feature Film
Fund's main program. Twenty-three French-language projects were submitted for
the March 30, 2009, deadline, and Telefilm has selected seven to receive a
total investment of $7.4 million.
    In keeping with its mandate to support a diversity of projects and help
increase the box-office earnings of Canadian productions, Telefilm Canada is
investing in multiple genres including drama, suspense, comedy and sports
drama. These are the French-language projects that will receive Telefilm
Canada funding:

    100 milliards de neurones - Drama directed and written by Michel Monty.
Faced with the death of his doctor father from an overdose of prescription
drugs, 12-year-old Etienne starts down the same path. (Producers: Josée

    Angle mort - Suspense directed by Frédérik D'Amours and written by Martin
Girard. A pyromaniac road killer takes revenge for the accident that left his
wife dead and him disfigured by murdering bad drivers who cross his path.

    Cabotins - Comedy directed by Alain DesRochers and written by Ian Lauzon.
Marcel Lajoie is a variety show legend who has delighted audiences for years.
But success has come at a cost. With just two weeks before the bank forecloses
on his estate, he decides to repair the barn and put on a show to avoid losing

    Demande à ceux qui restent - Road-movie drama directed by Louis Bélanger
and written by Louis Bélanger and Alexis Martin. Stricken with grief and guilt
when his son dies, a father flees. Mourning and wandering, he seeks

    Jour des corneilles (Le) - Animation feature, France-Québec coproduction,
directed by Serge Elissalde and written by Serge Elissalde and Amandine
Taffin. Deep in a vast forest, a child is raised like a wild thing by his
gruff tyrant of a father, who keeps him cut off from all contact with the
outside world. Then one day the boy discovers a nearby village and meets a

    Frissons des collines - Comedy directed by Richard Roy and written by
Richard Roy and Michel Michaud. In the summer of 1969, in the little Quebec
village of Sainte-Agasse, Frisson, age 12, is looking for a way to get to
Woodstock to see her idol, Jimmy Hendrix. (Producer: Louis-Philippe Rochon;

    Lance et Compte - Sports drama directed by Frédérik D'Amours and written
by Réjean Tremblay. The National plays an off-season match in Roberval. On the
way back, the team bus gets into an accident. (Producers: Caroline Héroux,

    The next deadline for French-language projects applying to the CFFF
selective component is September 14, 2009.

    Telefilm Canada is a federal cultural agency dedicated to developing and
