Calpine Names Michael D. Rogers, Senior Vice President and President of Power Operations

    SAN JOSE, Calif. and HOUSTON, Dec. 13 /CNW/ -- Calpine Corporation (Pink
Sheets: CPNLQ) today announced the promotion of Michael Rogers to Senior Vice
President and President of Power Operations.  He will report to Robert P. May,
Calpine's Chief Executive Officer.  Mr. Rogers previously served as Interim
Executive Vice President of Power Operations for the past two months.
    In his new role, Mr. Rogers will oversee Calpine's nearly 24,000-megawatt
operating portfolio of clean, efficient and reliable natural gas-fueled and
renewable geothermal power plants.  He also is responsible for Calpine's
engineering, construction, asset management and turbine maintenance

    Mr. Rogers joined the company in 2001 and has worked in both operations
and development, with previous experience in power plant operations, control
area operations and energy trading.  From 2006 to 2007, he served as Senior
Vice President of Calpine's 7,300-megawatt Western power operations.  Prior to
joining Calpine, Mr. Rogers was with Pacific Gas and Electric Company, where
he held positions of increasing responsibility in a variety of groups,
including Geothermal Operations, Plant Operations,  Grid Operations and
Generation Portfolio Management.  Mr. Rogers is a graduate of the University
of California at Davis with a degree in chemical engineering.
