Calling for Canada's Favourite Crossing Guards

    FedEx and Safe Kids launch 2nd annual national contest

    TORONTO, Sept. 24 /CNW/ - Today, FedEx Express Canada and Safe Kids
Canada launched the "Canada's Favourite Crossing Guard Contest" to recognize
the contributions of crossing guards across the country. The contest runs from
September 24 to November 5, 2007 and asks for students, schools and parents to
nominate their favourite crossing guard.
    The contest is part of the Safe Kids Walk This Way program launched by
FedEx and Safe Kids to reduce pedestrian injuries to children across Canada.
The goals are to increase motorist awareness of school zone safety and provide
support to communities in their efforts to teach children about pedestrian
    Nomination forms and contest rules can be found on the Safe Kids website

    What:  Canada's Favourite Crossing Guard Contest
           Three winners will be chosen and will receive
           a plaque and gift certificate
           The winner's school will receive a pizza party for the school

    When:  Contest runs from September 24 - November 5, 2007
           Winners will be announced November 19, 2007

    Who:   Adult crossing guards or adult organizers of a school crossing
           guard patrol.
