Calling All Writers - FLARE Magazine Announces Novice Writing Competition

    TORONTO, April 29 /CNW/ - In celebration of FLARE's 30th Anniversary, the
magazine is pleased to announce a writing competition for novice writers.
Regarded as one of Canada's most recognizable magazines, this unique writing
competition gives fledgling journalists an opportunity to appear in the pages
    In 600 words or less FLARE wants you to tell them what fashion moment of
the past 30 years has inspired them the most. Seeking writers from coast to
coast the "finalist" will be selected from all the entries received and will
be judged based upon originality, creativity and the importance of the chosen
fashion moment.
    Perhaps it was Karl Lagerfeld and the house of Chanel, or Betsey
Johnson's runway cartwheels. Or did Molly Ringwald's prom dress from Pretty In
Pink give you pause, or possibly Vivienne Westwood's wedding dress for SJP
(that is, Carrie Bradshaw). It may have been the inspiration of Lady Diana or
the new elegance of Michelle Obama. FLARE wants to hear your story.
    Open to all residents of Canada who are over the age of majority in their
province, the competition will not only give the winner enviable coverage in a
special 30th Anniversary edition of Flare, they will also be awarded a
luxurious gift basket (worth over $500) compliments of Pantene, Olay,
Covergirl and Nice N Easy.
    Continuing their commitment to celebrate and promote Canadian talent,
FLARE has assembled a panel of three (3) judges from Rogers Publishing who
will review all submitted entries and a winner will be chosen following the
deadline of May 10, 2009.
