TORONTO, Jan. 30 /CNW/ - With Canadian consumer confidence on the rise - the Consumer Confidence Index shows an increase of 2.1 per cent for the past holiday season* - the upcoming Canadian Gift & Tableware Association (CGTA) Toronto Gift Show presents the first barometer of retail industry expectations as we transition into 2011. With well over 900 exhibitors and more than 17,600 retail buyers from around the world, the Toronto Gift Show is Canada's largest trade show and a vital part of the retail buying season. Running from Sunday, January 30th to Thursday, February 3rd, the influential show brings together manufacturers, importers, exporters, wholesalers, distributors, suppliers and buyers, and facilitates the sourcing of the newest, most innovative products to hit store shelves this year.

Special features of the show include the New Product Galleries, showcasing trendy and unusual, never-before-seen products from more than 150 exhibitors, the Kitchen Spotlight, a demo kitchen with tips and techniques from chef Don Cruickshanks, featuring best-selling houseware and tabletop items; and Showcase Canada, a comprehensive collection of Canadian-designed and/or manufactured products, ranging from jewellery and home accessories to one-of-a-kind sculptures. The show also offers free educational seminars featuring leading retail authorities, design and display demonstrations and business consultations.

For more than 25 years, the CGTA's semi-annual Toronto Gift Show has been the retail industry's preeminent buying event in Canada. The association acquired the Montreal and Alberta Gift Shows in April of 2010 solidifying its position as the foremost association in Canada's $10-billion giftware industry.
