The Learning Partnership to release its latest edition of The Quality of
    Public Education in Canada

TORONTO, Sept. 25 /CNW/ - On Wednesday September 26, The Learning
Partnership is releasing its latest edition of The Quality of Public Education
in Canada. This report aims to raise awareness among Canadians of the impact
of demographic changes are having, and will have, on our public schools and
Canadian society. Based on a research paper, Demographic Changes in Canada and
Their Impact on Public Education, by Dr. Edward Harvey and Dr. René Houle,
this report summarizes recent data. It also includes exemplary practices and
recommendations that are derived largely from extensive roundtable discussions
that were held in communities across the country.
Initial findings from this study were first announced by The Learning
Partnership on September 28, 2006.
Co-Chaired by Don Drummond, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist, TD
Bank Financial Group and Professor Jane Gaskell, Dean of OISE, University of
Toronto, this research study is part of a major initiative on demographic
change and education that also included a series of pan-Canadian round-table
discussions and a public discussion paper.

Established in 1993, The Learning Partnership champions a strong public
education system in Canada through innovative programs, credible research,
policy initiatives and public engagement. Since its inception, more than
three million students and teachers have participated in one or more of The
Learning Partnership's programs, including Take Our Kids to Work(TM) and
Welcome to Kindergarten(TM). For information on The Learning Partnership, log
