New TruDirect(TM) optical disc drive helps streamline at-home DVD
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Jan. 23 /CNW/ - Creating DVDs of videos recorded on your
digital camera, camcorder, webcam or USB memory is about to get much simpler
with the introduction of the TruDirect(TM) SE-S204S optical disc drive from
Samsung Electronics. The TruDirect(TM) drive allows consumers to create DVDs
and burn digital content through the use of a home computer or notebook,
providing convenient, fast, real-time recording from a variety of digital
devices without the need for their hard drive.
"In today's digital age, consumers are looking for a fast, efficient and
easy DVD production process in order to share their videos with friends or
family," said Ronald Hulse, Vice President Sales & Marketing, IT Division,
Samsung Electronics Canada. "With the Samsung TruDirect(TM) optical disc
drive, consumers can avoid having to use unnecessary space on their hard
drives, or installing bulky conversion software on their computers in order to
create DVDs of their favourite videos."
With the introduction of the TruDirect(TM) SE-S204S, Samsung eliminates
the lengthy process of having to connect a digital device such as a camcorder
or a digital camera to your computer, converting video files to DVD-ready
files and then compromising hard drive space in order to create a DVD. Similar
to using a VCR to record from TV, users simply connect their digital device to
their PC or notebook, and then connect the Samsung TruDirect(TM) optical disc
drive to the computer in order to burn directly to a DVD disc.
Compared to using a hard disk drive, the TruDirect(TM) SE-S204S
dramatically cuts down on the time it takes to create DVDs, as no
pre-mastering, multiplexing or hard-disk buffering is required. This allows
for simple, fast recording of personal videos, photos or data files onto DVD
discs. Creating a DVD of a one-hour video stream only takes one hour and five
minutes and to create a DVD from a one-hour hard disk drive camcorder file,
only takes 30 minutes.
The TruDirect(TM) SE-S204S also features some of the fastest speeds of an
optical disc drive on the market, with 20X DVD+R and DVD-R, 16X DVD+R Dual
Layer, 12X DVD-R Dual Layer and 12X DVD-RAM writing speeds.
The TruDirect(TM) SE-S204S is available as of January, 2008 at an MSRP of
$159.99. For more information, visit www.samsung.ca.
