Bruce Power and CVRD Inco Executives to receive prestigious Easter Seals Toronto's Tribute Award



    TORONTO, Aug. 9 /CNW/ - The Easter Seal Society, Ontario is proud to
announce that Duncan Hawthorne, President and CEO, Bruce Power and Murilo
Ferreira, President and CEO, CVRD Inco will be jointly honoured as the 2007
recipients of the prestigious Easter Seals Toronto's Tribute Award. The
presentation of this year's awards will take place on Wednesday, December 5,
2007 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
    "Bruce Power and CVRD Inco have long been leaders in their respective
industries, in their communities and in their continued support of children
with physical disabilities," said the Honourable Brian Tobin, Easter Seals
Capital Campaign Chair. "The Toronto's Tribute Award and Gala Dinner is a way
for Easter Seals kids, families, volunteers and the entire Easter Seals
organization to recognize excellence in giving back to the community and to
say thanks!"
    Shane Pospisil, President and CEO of the 170-member Ontario Energy
Association and Easter Seals' Board member will once again chair this year's
Toronto's Tribute Gala Dinner. "Bruce Power and CVRD Inco represent the kind
of corporate leadership that allows Easter Seals to do the good work it does,"
Pospisil added. "Congratulations Duncan and Murilo - and to your staff and
employees - for your continued support of Easter Seals kids and their
families."
    Toronto's Tribute has raised over $1.7 million, with past honourees
including Toronto Mayor David Miller, former Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman, Joseph
Barnicke, Chairman of JJ Barnicke Ltd., David O'Brien, President and CEO of
Toronto Hydro Corporation and last year's recipient, The Right Honourable Paul
Martin. All monies raised from this event go directly to helping families of
children with physical disabilities across Ontario.
    2007 marks the 85th anniversary of The Easter Seal Society, Ontario.
Easter Seals provides financial assistance to children and youth with physical
disabilities to offset the costs of expensive mobility and communication
devices such as walkers, braces and wheelchairs, and to provide opportunities
for Easter Seals kids to attend fully accessible Easter Seals camps or to
participate in other recreational and independence-building programs. For more
