Brighter Employment Data from Canadian Job-Seekers Embracing New Search Technology

TORONTO, Feb. 23 /CNW/ - With the steady stream of grim economic news,
you might be excused for thinking Canada's economy had all but stopped
creating new jobs. Not true, says Canada's most-visited job search engine, which today reported that it found a remarkable 25,079 new full-time
jobs posted by employers across Canada in January.
"The growth in Canada's unemployment rate has been widely reported," says
Kim Peters, President & CEO of Eluta Inc., "but it's less noticed that
Canada's economy still creates thousands of full-time jobs every month.
Job-seekers just need to know where to look - and vertical search engines like are becoming increasingly efficient at finding the latest jobs posted
by employers."
Unlike previous recessions, job-seekers now have powerful tools to locate
new jobs as soon as employers post them. Vertical search engines, like, let job-seekers find new opportunities directly from employers' web
pages, bypassing traditional job boards. "Few employers can afford to
advertise all their positions on job boards," says Tony Meehan, Founder of
Eluta Inc. "but they do post them on their websites, which is why specialized
search engines like have become popular among job-seekers in today's
economic climate."
The new search engine technology has been eagerly embraced by job-seekers
across Canada. On Friday, comScore Inc. reported that received a
record 560,786 unique visitors last month, up over 32% from last January. The
popular job search engine was heavily visited in all parts of Canada, most
notably in BC where was the second most-visited career search site in
January according to comScore Media Metrix.
Unlike traditional job boards, vertical search engines like let
job-seekers find new positions directly from employers websites. is
also unique because it includes thousands of independent employer reviews,
licensed from the Canada's Top 100 Employers project, with its job search
results. These reviews provide an inside look at the perks and benefits
available at each employer, so job-seekers can better evaluate their job
opportunities. All jobs on are full-time positions offered directly
by employers.
