MINI 2008 sales up 32% in Canada.
WHITBY, ON, Jan. 5 /CNW/ - BMW Group Canada announced today a new annual
sales record of 28,149 vehicles (BMW and MINI brands combined) in 2008, an
increase of 1% over 2007 sales. For the month of December, sales were 2,045
units, down 15% from December 2007.

increases, especially considering that 2008 was a challenging year for many
with a softening economy," said Lindsay Duffield, President & CEO, BMW Group
Canada. "Our MINI brand had an exceptional 2008; we achieved record sales and
saw increases bigger than almost anyone else in the industry. BMW maintained
its position as the number one selling luxury automotive brand in Canada and
BMW Motorrad celebrated another year of record sales. With our new flagship
BMW 7 Series arriving in the spring, along with the new BMW Z4 and MINI
Convertible, we are looking forward to another solid year."

The BMW brand sold 23,244 units in 2008, which represents a sales decrease
of 3% over 2007. BMW December sales were 1,745 units, an 18% decrease compared
to December 2007.

Performance Car under $50,000" for 2008 by the Automobile Journalists
Association of Canada (AJAC), proved to be a success with 2,212 units
BMW Motorrad: Record year for BMW bikes sales.
BMW Motorrad Canada celebrated its best sales year in history, achieving
1,760 BMW Motorcycle retails in 2008, for an increase of 8% over 2007 sales.
In December, 115 BMW motorcycles were retailed in Canada, a 13% increase over
MINI Brand: MINI 2008 sales up 32% to achieve seventh consecutive year of
MINI Canada has set a sales record every year since its Canadian inception
in 2002. In 2008, MINI sales increased 32% over 2007 to a record setting 4,905
units. MINI December sales were 300 units, a 5% increase over December 2007.
BMW and MINI Pre-Owned: Best year on record for BMW and MINI Pre-Owned
BMW Canada Pre-Owned enjoyed its best-ever year with a sales increase of
6% for 2008 compared to 2007. A total of 9,050 BMW Pre-Owned vehicles were
sold in 2008, of which 7,502 units were BMW Certified Series Pre-Owned
vehicles, an increase of 18% over last year.
In December, 529 BMW Pre-Owned vehicles were sold in Canada, a decrease of
10%. There were 438 BMW Certified Pre-Owned units sold in December, a decrease
of 5% compared to December 2007.
Sales of MINI Pre-Owned vehicles were up 56% to 900 units in 2008; of
those 530 were MINI Next Certified Pre-owned cars, an increase of 52% compared
to last year. December MINI Pre-Owned vehicles sales were up 56% to 39 units
over December 2007. MINI Next Certified Pre-Owned sales in December increased
5% to 20 units.
