Blue Note Mining responds to charge of environmental breach

    MONTREAL, Feb. 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Blue Note Mining intends to plead guilty
to a charge relating to the release of a contaminant at its Caribou Mine
facility, near Bathurst, New Brunswick, in July, 2007.
    The charge is a summary conviction offence pursuant to subsection
5.3(1) (a) of the Clean Environment Act, R.S.N.B. 1973, c. C-6.
    Blue Note accepts responsibility for its actions and intends to plead
guilty at the first available opportunity.
    Blue Note intends to advise the Court that its representatives advised
the Department of Environment of the spill immediately; offered full
cooperation with the Department; the spill was cleaned up by Blue Note by
5:00 p.m. on the same day that the spill was reported with no measurable
effect on the external environment; and Blue Note has no previous record of
similar offences.
    A hearing on the matter before New Brunswick Provincial Court is
scheduled for March 3, 2008.
