Blue Jays acquire Bautista

    TORONTO, Aug. 21 /CNW/ - The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have acquired INF
JOSE BAUTISTA from the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named later.
    BAUTISTA, 27, is currently with Indianapolis (AAA) of the International
League, having appeared in five games, hitting .300 (6-20) with two doubles,
two home runs and eight RBI. In 107 games for the Pirates this season he has
posted a .242 avg., with 12 home runs and 44 RBI.
    The Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic native is in his 5th major league
season, posting double-digit home runs in each of the last three seasons,
including a career high 16 in 2006. The 6'0", 195 lb., right-handed hitter has
appeared in 441 games for four separate clubs (Baltimore 2004, Kansas City
2004, Tampa Bay 2004, & Pittsburgh 2004-08) holding a career .240 avg., with
161 home runs and 541 runs batted in.
