Best Buy Canada Offers Canadians A Green Deal For Used Mobile Phones

BURNABY, BC, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - Just in time for Back-to-School, Best Buy -
Canada's fastest growing specialty retailer and e-tailer of consumer
electronics - has launched a new mobile phone trade-in program at locations
across Canada. The first of its kind in Canada, this innovative new program
offers Best Buy gift cards in exchange for their unwanted mobile phones and
will ensure that old handsets are recycled responsibly.
This program, launched with Best Buy Mobile - Best Buy Canada's resident
Mobile Specialists - gives mobile phones a second life by offering fast, free
and eco-friendly ways to trade them in and put them back into use. In cases
where devices have no remaining value, a tree will be planted for every phone
that is recycled through Best Buy Mobile. The average trade-in value is $30
per handset, which will be given to customers in the form of a Best Buy gift
card redeemable for any product in-store or online.
"Best Buy Mobile is the first retailer in Canada to help customers unlock
the value in their old or unwanted mobile phones," said Remi Audoin, Vice
President, Best Buy Mobile. "We launched this program in time for
Back-to-School shopping so that our customers can use the gift cards they earn
at a time when many students and parents are purchasing consumer electronics
for the new school year. This trade-in program makes it easy to do the right
thing when it comes to the disposal of mobile phones and encourages customers
to come to their local Best Buy Mobile location to take advantage of this
innovative program."
Best Buy Mobile offers customers a new way to shop for cell phones. With
more than 100 handsets and six carriers to choose from, Best Buy's impartial
Mobile Specialists help consumers choose the phone that is right for them. In
addition, there are more than 35 Bluetooth headsets to choose from and free
Walk-out-Working service to ensure each customer has the right headset for
their phone.
