Bengal Energy Provides Operations Update

    CALGARY, July 21 /CNW/ - Bengal Energy Ltd. (TSX: BNG) ("Bengal" or "the
Company") today announced that the second well of the Company's seven well
Joint Venture program with Santos Ltd. (ASX: STO, NASDAQ:   STOSY) ("Santos"), a
major Australian oil and gas exploration and production company, will be
plugged and abandoned. The next 3 wells to be drilled in the Santos-led Joint
Venture and 200 sq. km. of 3D seismic will be done at no cost to Bengal. Other
farm-in partners are Australian companies Bow Energy Limited and Victoria
Petroleum Limited.
