Bell obtains ISO 14001 certification for environmental management

    First telecom company in Canada to achieve international environmental

    MONTREAL, Québec, May 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell today announced that it is
the first telecommunications company in Canada to obtain certification to ISO
14001, the international standard that specifies a process for controlling and
improving an organization's environmental performance.
    Awarded by BSI Management System, one of the world's largest
certification bodies, for Bell's environmental management system, this ISO
14001 certification covers all of Bell's business lines, including enterprise
and other business services, wireless, digital television, Internet and home
phone products and services, and all related administrative functions.
    "Governments are adopting sustainability policies and implementing these
into their supply chains. Our large Enterprise customers are also increasingly
expecting state-of-the-art environmental practices from their suppliers. And
consumers increasingly want to know that their service providers are committed

    - Employees and customers held more than three million teleconferences in
      2008, saving greenhouse gas emissions equal to 180,000 mid-size cars
    - Bell's three new campuses in Montréal, Mississauga and Calgary were
      built according to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
      classification standards for ecological buildings.
