Bell excels at meeting telecommunications challenge of North American leaders' Summit

    MONTREAL, Québec, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - At the Summit of North American
leaders held this month at Château Montebello, Bell successfully established a
highly secured and seamless telecommunications system, created within a very
tight timeframe, which respected the sensitive security requirements of such
an event. Summit participants benefited from continuous access to an
integrated fixed, wireless and Wi-Fi network.
    "What Bell was able to do with our teams amounts to a miracle," said
Jacques Joly, who is responsible for managing installations at the Summits
Management Office, Foreign Affairs/ and Public Works and Government Services
Canada. "Given the security constraints and last-minute requests, some
connections and Internet access points were installed just 48 hours before the
event began. And everything worked perfectly."
    "We're proud of this achievement, because we faced two challenges," said

matter of providing impeccable service by ensuring the confidentiality of the
information carried over our circuits, as well as making the necessary
installations within a very tight schedule - without disturbing guests
vacationing at Château Montebello prior to the Summit. We would like to thank

    For this event, Bell installed a cable network from its central office in
Montebello to the Château. Setting up this network made it possible to install
more than 200 Centrex lines and provide Internet access to nearly 250 users,
or 100 cable users and/or 150 wireless users.

our technicians, who were on site for the two days of the Summit to deal with
any glitches, to the customer service staff who efficiently responded to all
of the changes requested by the client, often at the last minute, and to the
entire engineering team, which quickly configured the services and terminals
needed for a communications operation of this scope."
