OTTAWA, Feb. 16 /CNW Telbec/ - The Founders of BeaverTails Canada Inc.,
Pam and Grant Hooker, have officially invited President Barack Obama to drop
by the Rideau Canal Skateway during his first official visit to Ottawa
February 19 to sample the company's "ObamaTail" pastry.
"We thought this would be the perfect winter setting for him to show some
of the 'flinty Chicago toughness' he spoke about recently," said Mr. Hooker.
"We hope he can make it, but we understand fully if he has other things on his
mind and can't make it on this first official trip to Ottawa. That's why our
invitation to him and his family will stand for at least the next eight
As a tribute to the new President, BeaverTails(R) created the
"ObamaTail," which is the classic cinnamon and sugar BeaverTail, topped with a
large whipped cream letter "O" traced with chocolate and maple sauce. At the
invitation of the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C., the company served
some 1,800 "ObamaTails" to guests at the Embassy's "Tailgate Party," January
20, to celebrate President Obama's inauguration.
As an additional tribute to the new President, the "ObamaTail" will be
added to the menu of all BeaverTails(R) locations along and adjacent to the
Rideau Canal Skateway, and at the BeaverTails(R) kiosk in the Byward Market on
Thursday, February 19th, the day of Mr. Obama's visit to Canada's capital.
BeaverTails(R) are delicious, whole wheat flour pastries loosely shaped
like the business end of one of Canada's best-known national symbols, the
beaver. The pastries are float cooked on high-quality Canadian canola oil,
garnished with a variety of toppings and served hot to eager patrons.
BeaverTails Canada Inc., based in Ottawa and with a management office in
Montreal, consists of over 93 company-operated, franchised and licensed
locations across Canada.
