BDC celebrates the success of Canadian entrepreneurs during the 28th edition Small Business Week

MONTREAL, Oct. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - The Business Development Bank of Canada
(BDC) announced today that the 28th edition of Small Business Week(R) will
take place from October 14 to 20 under the theme "A world without boundaries,
open to new markets".
Organized by BDC with the support of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce,
Small Business Week continues to pay tribute to small and medium size
enterprises for their contribution to the national economy. Marked by hundreds
of activities organized throughout the country, the crowning of the Small
Business Week will be the Young Entrepreneur Awards Ceremony, which will take
place this year in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on October 16.

    BDC Young Entrepreneur Awards

BDC will recognize the business achievements of Canadian business owners
between the ages of 19 and 35. The thirteen winning companies - one for each
province and territory - are selected by a committee, based on a number of
criteria that range from operating success and innovation to involvement in
the new economy, community work and export performance. Two special awards
will also be presented during Small Business Week this year: the Export
Development Canada Export Achievement Award, and the Rogers Business
Transition Award.
It is important to remember that the winners of BDC's Young Entrepreneur
Awards benefit from nation-wide visibility as well as recognition in the
business community. The honour is accompanied by concrete benefits,
specifically with regard to the notoriety of the business, employee
mobilization and recruiting of new talents, and company growth.

Small Business Week activities across the country

Activities provide established and potential entrepreneurs with learning
and development opportunities, and create a forum for networking and sharing
ideas. Events include conferences, trade fairs, seminars, workshops and
business luncheons.

    Small Business Week partners

Many partners help make the 2007 Small Business Week and Young
Entrepreneur Awards a success: Western Economic Diversification, Rogers,
Export Development Canada are national partners. The Pan Canadian Community
Futures Group and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce are privileged partners of
the event.
