BC Students Launch New Campaign: We Ride: Student Action for Public Transit

    VANCOUVER, Sept. 25 /CNW/ - Representatives of the Canadian Federation of
Students will launch a new campaign to bring attention to the poor level of
public transit service throughout British Columbia. We Ride: Student Action
for Public Transit will focus on gathering transit rides "stories" to document
the problems students face when relying on public transit.

    WHAT:     We Ride: Student Action for Public Transit Campaign launch
              featuring speeches from the Federation's BC Chairperson Shamus
              Reid and media availability with student transit riders.
              Students will distribute buttons, stickers, leaflets and gather
              signatures on petition

    WHEN:     10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2007

    WHERE:    Broadway and Commercial Skytrain Station

    WHO:      Students transit users from BC colleges, universities and

    WHY:      The campaign will draw attention to students' frustrations of
              being late for class and work as a result of infrequent
              service, stop-and-go bus routes, and overcrowded transit
              vehicles. The campaign demands and tactics will be announced at
              the press conference.
