BC Research Agency Nominated for Whitworth Award

    KELOWNA, BC, June 25 /CNW/ - A Kelowna, BC research organization, The
Society for the Advancement of Excellence in Education (SAEE), has been
nominated for the Canadian Education Association's Whitworth Award for
Education Research for their recent study on promising practices in aboriginal
    This prestigious award honours individual or research collaborations that
have made noteworthy contributions to educational research in Canada. The
annual award supports leadership in the identification of emerging issues and
promotes innovative and collaborative research approaches. A winner will be
announced in the early fall.
    The study that prompted the nomination, Sharing Our Success: More Case
Studies in Aboriginal Schools, is one of 36 conducted by SAEE over the past
decade. With a mission to develop cutting-edge knowledge on school improvement
and foster the understanding of its use, SAEE provides non-partisan education
research and information to policy-makers, education partners and the public.
The Society's $5M research program is Canada wide, and is supported through
partnerships and funding agreements with over 30 different agencies, both
