Frank R. Varseveld, President and CEO, in making this announcement said
"We are certainly pleased to have been chosen by Canada's Top 10(TM)
Competition Organizers in recognition of our efforts towards achieving a
healthy, sustainable environment. Our eco-friendly technology uses nano-sized
natural minerals to control problematic micro-organisms in water and food
environments, providing a effective natural alternative to common
environmentally stressful chemicals."
Winners were chosen by an independent expert panel of Canadian and U.S.
venture capitalists. Originally developed to promote the 10 most promising
life science companies from across Canada to Canadian and international
investors and partners, the competition now showcases Canada's life sciences,
cleantech and technology sectors. Working in partnership with Canadian
Consulates across the US, winning companies will participate in targeted
investment forums providing an opportunity to meet with Venture Capital
investors who have expressed an active interest in financing these companies.
Since its inception in 1999, competition alumni have secured more than $522M
in venture capital financing.
"EnvirEau is focused on taking our unique mineral-based technology to
underdeveloped and developing export markets. We trust that being a Top 10(TM)
winner in the cleantech sector will assist us in getting government and
private sector support to accelerate the introduction of this Made-In-Canada
technology and to bring about major contributions toward improving water
quality and food safety in many countries", Varseveld said.
"OCRI is pleased to play an active role in the growth of so many
exceptional Canadian companies," said Michelle Scarborough, Vice President,
Investment and Commercialization, OCRI". Canada's Top 10(TM) is organized by
